Kayla decided to stop by a local coffee shop. It wasn't to far from the hospital, and she didn't particurally want to sit at the bus stop waiting for a bus. Perhaps unwind a bit before hopping on said bus. Her mind was still realing in a way from the fact she had made a new friend. For the normally reserved deperatmeant head, who wasn't very well known that was quite the accomplishmeant.
Entering the shop, the sent of the coffee filled her nose. It was not unpleasent at the least, but a sent she wasn't used to. She had never been one for the stuff herself, but there was a first time for everything right? Deciding that is what she would do, she ordered the smallest thing she could get if for no other reason to try it out.
After she paid for her peritcse, she carefully very carefully made her way to an empty table. After all the last thing she needed were third-dregree burns on top of everything else. She had found a spot nearest the window where one seat was missing from a two-person-sized table. It had been nice in her book too to find an out of the way place to sit and people-watch.
Hands folded on the table she allowed her mind to drift while stiaring at the coffee cup almost afraid of its contents.
(Taub if you haven't read Kayla's profile... she's in a wheelchair unless otherwise stated in a thread.)

In the past couple of weeks Taub had been doing a lot of things he normally didn't do. He had come up with a new morning routine, thinking that changing things up may help make his life a little bit better than it was now. It hadn't helped out much yet but it hadn't been that long since he started.
One of those changes had been to come in here for a cup of black coffee every morning before work. And every morning he came in here he saw familiar faces who had the same routine as he did. Every now and then there would be a newcomer. Taub always loved talking to them. He was trying his hardest to become a happier person.
Taub stepped inside the coffee shoppe and ordered his coffee. He stood at the counter until it was ready. Picking up his cup, he scanned the room until he spotted the only newcomer. He didn't even notice she was in a wheelchair. He was a doctor---doctors got so used to seeing people in wheelchairs that they hardly ever paid anymore attention to a person in a wheelchair outside of a hospital than they did to people walking on their own two feet.
He walked over to Kayla's table. "May I sit down here?" he asked, politely.

Kayla was quite literally brought out of her musings when a male voice entered her ears. For the life of her she couldn't quite figure out who it was, but she knew that she had heard it before. Perhaps one of houses "ducklings" as he had refered to his teem on occassion. Something clicked in her head as she lifted her gaze. "No go right ahead." she had replied.
Yep... that had to be it. One of house's team members... but wich one?

"Thank you," Taub said, taking the seat across from Kayla. "I'm Chris Taub." He took a sip of his hot beverage before going on. "I work over at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital." Taub had never seen Kayla there, so he had no idea she worked there too.

"OKay.... " Kayla said as she removed her lid from her own cup of coffee. For him to seem like he knew her was no suprise to Kayla. Most never bothered to really get to know the girl. House didn't even know how to say her last name. But then again, Tsukino was kind of unique. "I'm Kayla Tsukino. I head the neroligy department over there."
She had said those words as a form of introduction. Her mind spun, as she proceded to take a chance with said beverage. It was different she had to give it that much.

"Really?" Taub asked. He felt so embarrassed that he hadn't recognized her. Then again, he really didn't get around the hospital much. House liked to keep his ducklings close to him, lest they get a taste of freedom and decided to leave him like Cameron had.
"How long have you been working there?"

Kaylapaused as she tried to recall the exact timeline. "A couple of months I think." She wasn't sure she had lost track. "I don't remember exactly, but I know it hasn't been very long. Don't feel bad, I'm not very well-know yet."
"So what about yourself have you worked there long?"

"Going on two years now," he said. Had it really been that long already? Sometimes to Taub it had seemed as if he just started working there a few days ago. "I don't know how much longer I can last, though."

"Oh really?" Kayla said. "Stress of the job finally getting to you?" she inquired. While it might not be any of her business, Kayla had asked the question reguardless. Though she suprised herself. Normally the brown-haired wasn't a morning person, and still wasn't, she had been making an effort. In fact she'd been making leaps and bounds.
As she awaited his reply her mind begun to drift. She wasn't very talkitive by nature, the type who spoke only when spoken to, that had recently changed when she had met Albert. They had been out once but he had somehow managed to make her open up and talk more, a trait she seemed to be exercisesing even now.

Taub shook his head. "Not so much the stress. More like working for House. He has a way with words," he chuckled. "He has a way of making you doubt everything you ever thought about yourself, and he has a way of finding things out about you that you thought nobody would ever find out." That was House in a nutshell.
He drank some more of his coffee and set his almost empty cup back down on the table. "Be thankful, Doctor Tsukino, that you don't work for anyone but Cuddy."

"I've heard of him, and I know people like that. I guess I've gotten a bit used to it. " Kayla replied sipping at her coffee a little more slowly now instead of the huge gulps she had been doing when she had first bought it. She had almost afraid to try it, but now she didn't mind the taste... "Just... try not to let him get to you.. I know it can be easier said than done..."

"You're right. It is easier said than done." Taub traced an imaginary circle on the table and let out a small sigh. He finally looked back up at Kayla. "It's hard to not let someone get to who who constantly calls you useless."

"I know how difficult that is. I get called that a lot, by just about everyone I encounter. I've heard just about every varaion of the tearm "useless" most coming from my own parents. I guess I just delt with it differently then most people." Kayla smiled.

Taub wasn't going to say it allowed, but at least people had a good reason to call Kayla useless. Her physical disabilities gave people a reason to think so. On the other hand, Taub thought House had no reason to call him useless.
"I would give anything to be able to handle this differently but I guess I can be as much of a jerk as House is sometimes."

"You know you can change that if you wanted to." kayla replied. "Life is a series of chorices, the choices you make effect your life. Quitting just because your boss is a bit of an anoying jerk won't solve anything. Perhaps you should talk to him or at the very least tell him off. If anything it'll make you feel better."
