"I take the bus, I don't drive." Kayla stated as she headed out. Though Kayla sure didn't mind on going anywhere. She rather enjoyed not planning anything out all of the time. In the world of medicine a since of order was required, but it was also important to know how to act on your feet sort of speak. After all they did call the art of medicine in all its forms a "praticice" for a reason.
When he slipped back to the previous topic, Kayla had to admit she did agree with his answers. "That's true...." she said in agreeance as they reached the grounds of the hospital, the sun almost blinding compared to the inside where light was constantly controled in some form or another.
The ever-present smile never left her face as she headed down the block to the bus stop and the cafe she knew resided just beyound. It was a quiet place, close to the hospital and the bus stop. It was perfect for an afternoon lunch when time wasn't a luxery that she could not aford. She could only hope albert didn't mind it. It wasn't many's cup of tea sort of speak and she knew it.

The walk to the cafe was short and pleasant, Kayla's pleased disposition was enough to brighten any situation, however with the sky's so blue, the breeze so fresh, and the glowing sun warming the earth the walk was nothing short of an immaculate perfection. The cafe was small and aged with an air of solitude resting just over head, some would find it unsatisfactory ti there standards, however Albert was not one of those people, to him it was relaxing and contenting, the aged interior adding a feeling of history, the menu provided decent food at a refreshingly fair price. This place was without a doubt the perfect place to really get to know someone over a meal. unlike so many other places, here they could talk about almost anything with a reassuring feeling that what they said was just between themselves.
As they walked in Albert took a brief look over the room, turned to Kayla, and stated in amazement "This place is incredible, I think I may have just found my new lunch time hang out." within just a few moments they were seated in a corner by a window, menu's in hand, leisurely glancing through the diffrent dishes as one might read a morning paper. another few minutes past and then a waiter appeared and asked them if they had come to a conclusion on there choices, and upon learning they had, he inquired as to what they might be.

Kayla had frequented the cafe enough that she had memorized the menu. Which for her really did't take long. All she needed was to hear something once or twice in order to commit it to memory and half the time that wasn't her disired goal. However, such a skill had proven useful throughout college and medical school when other methods failed her.
Turning her attention to the waiter, she ordered her useal lunch meal, which was very lite but perfect for the young female doctor. Once she was cirtain Albert had ordered she turned her attenion back to him. "So, what would you like to know about me? she asked hearing the waiter leave then return a moment later with their drinks.

"Oh, I am not to picky when it comes to these things, just tell me anything that comes to mind, I am sure whatever interest you will be fascinating." A soft smile crossed Albert's face, he had secretly been looking forward to spending this time with her, and now that it had arrived he was hanging on every moment.
His food was a simple meal, nothing to fancy, just some salad with a small burger on the side, and some water. With the first few bites the food proved fine, however there was no question that food or the buildings interior design that he had come for, so there he sat, ready to listen.

Kayla had ordered light as well. In fact it had been her useal simple lunch, a soda with a berger. She had grown used to eating light meals so it was no suprise to her to order so small. A ghost of a smile graced her features as she began a very long tale.
Kayla had begun at the start running him through her back-story. She explained how she'd grown up and the struggles she faced, not only being adaopted but living as a disabled child. Being albert was a med student, she didn't feel it important to discribe in detail the enterity of her medical history. Using such tearms such as Cp, and blindness would be susficent enough. Though she did make it clear how she had gotten to be that way.
"If its one thing I can't stand is being I can't do something because of my challenges." Kayla concluded. "That's why I had gone to medical school so that I could make a differance in someone else's life. If some child, or even adult comes in and sees me I am hoping they will be inspired to presue their goals dispite the limatations trama or what ever the case is may bring to them."

With utmost interest Albert listened to her tale, learned the details of her past that were shared, and marveled in the wonders that her life presented. Her story was moving and full of emotion, however what really held his attention, what brought the story to life, was the way she spoke. Everything she said, she said with all her being, it was in her voice, it moved through her, and with every word Albert sat in amazement, eating his food, which was on the whole alright. The only compliant about the food was that this particular one was rather well done, perhaps it was just a fluke, yet if someone didn't know better they would think the place served all there burgers char broiled.
With a slight sigh he exclaimed "That was certainly some story." Unsure of how else to respond he sat there and took another bite of his food, thinking about what to say next, and for a lack of words he asked "So, anything you want to know about me?" Honestly he wasn't sure what to say, he certainly didn't have a life as thrilling as all that, however she was welcome to know anything about him she wished.

"Why don't you start from the beganing like I did and share what you're willing to with me." Kayla stated in reply. "I won't pry into anything that you don't wish to share with me." the suggestion was that, mearly a suggestion. He did not have to take it if he did not wish to. However, it was a good one. And, she would listen to him as he had done her and not interupt.
There she sat eating her food taking a sip of her soda.

Taking a deep breath Albert began "I was born and raised on the northwestern side of the country..........." Through the course of a quarter hour Albert shared stories from his childhood, young ambitions, key events of his upbringing, what his pre-med years were like, and his reasons for moving so far east from home. ".....and so here I am, just another student trying to make his way in the world of medicine."
His food was finished, and yet he stayed around, he had nowhere to be at the moment, and he was enjoying her company, she had a nice smirk, and her voice was not bad either. The only question in his mind was, where will things go from here, suppose time answers all questions, and in waiting it would be important not to become so future sighted that he became blind to the present.

Kayla listened carefully to the words spoken. She found his story interesting to say the least learning a great deal about him. In fact she had been so entranced in his conversaion that she hadn't even noticed so much time had passed by, or that she had completed her meal.
She looked up when she felt their weighter had reached for her empty plate and offered to refill her glass. Of course by this time Albert had finished his tale, and Kayla snapped back into reallity. "Wow..." she said not sure of anything to say. It was funny in the span of such a short time you could find out so much about a person and be compled to want to see them again. She sat streight up in her rusty, but still working black and silver manual wheelchair that she used to get around, blinking sightless brown ords to clear them from the fog that seemed to have settled in them.
She could only smile utterly speachless as what to say next. Should she offer up her contact information? Did he want to even see her again? Or, was she just dreaming... that was a one-time event that meant nothing... all she could do was wait to see what he might say if anything.

While Kayla gave no verbal response it was clear just by looking at her that she had some interest in Albert. Albert in turn had some level of interest in her, however he struggled to find the words to express what he felt. It had been a few years time since last Albert had had anyone show interest in him, that he in turn had interest for, and he was unsure how to approach these situations. It was clear though that while he was thinking the silence was growing, and he didn't want that to happen and so to his Surprise he began to speak "I...." It's too late now, you've already started speaking, you have to continue now, he thought to himself. " I think it is clear that I gave a bit of a fancy for you Kayla, I know we have barely met, and so I am sure that this rather sudden, I mean we have barely even spoken save for the last two days" Albert paused shortly to take a quick breath, and then began to speak again in that quicvk somewhat nervous manner he had been speaking in "But I mean from the moment I saw you I have liked you, I can't seem to help it, and I am not even sure if I know how to be in a relationship anymore, not to say that I am necessarily asking you out, or that I don't want to simply that I don't know if I would be any good at it, and..."
Realizing that he had been rambling and probably making a complete fool of himself the whirlwind of thought that had been flying out of his mouth came crashing to a stop mid sentence. Albert took a deep breath and tried again, this time slower and more collected "What are your thoughts, do you want to exchange phone numbers or something?" His left hand scratching the back of his neck as he asked.

Kayla blinked in suprise not expecting the words coming from him. At first when she had first met him, she felt she may be reading way to much into things. She tended to do that, and in reallity she had been thankful that Albert seemed to treat her with an air of respect as a person and not just a co-worker who just seemed to pass by at the wrong, or in this case right time.
The moment of shock faded quickly and she had been able to recover quickly. "That would be great." The words had come from her lips rather quickly and in fact if she hadn't heard her own voice she couldn't quite be sure she had said it in the first place. But, she apparently had and ment it, as she now had her cell phone out typing his name in a new contact field.

In a similar fashion Albert entered the details into his own phone, trying to hide to a certain degree the excitement he was feeling. This day was off to a rather wonderful start, In fact life had seemed brighter since he met Kayla, It had been a short amount of time, he was willing to admit that, however even as short as the time they had known one another was, Albert still couldn't help but feel how he did.
As the information saved into his phone, and her eyes and his met once again, it suddenly occurred to him like a him like dusk wrapping day in the cold sudden shadow of a cloud blanketed night, The meeting was over or would be over soon, all that was left was to share the parting words of formality and secretly hope to see one another soon, perhaps even schedule the next hopeful meeting.
"Well, I suppose we both have places we need to be, but maybe we can meet up again sometime soon, When is good for you?" Albert asked, his voice an interesting lamenting tone of optimism and regret.

Kayla thought about it replacing her phone in the holster she held on her hip after sving the data she'd just collected. She had to think of how to respond without sounding forceful or anything of that nature. It could be possable that she could stupidly turn him away if she didn't respond properly. "Well to be honest I'm not really in a hurry to be anywhere today." she said suddenly, but just as suddenly wished she hadn't said anything else. However once words were spoken they often couldn't be pulled back.
In reallity she wasn't quite ready for their encounter to end, and if the tone of voice was any indication he didn't eaither. At the same time Kayla didn't want to seem to forwrd either, if she was keeping him from some importnt engagment she wouldn't be able to live with herself.

Trying to hid his instant uplift in emotion as not to appear overly interested or come on to strongly to quickly, he relaxed in his seat at the table once more. Dispite his efforts Albert had light up with joy at hearing she had no where to be. Albert also was free, his remarks about having places to go was just an assumption That a doctor of her level of talent surely was a very busy person, perhaps too busy to spend to much time on lunches. "That's nice to know, I was just thinking I would be keeping you from something if i stayed much longer, and I certainly wouldn't want you to be late to an appointment on my account."
In all Honesty Albert was completely lost when it came to relationships, always worried about not gving them enough space, or coming on to quickly, yet he couldn't help but be how he was. It was for this very reason Albert had chosen to be single, in fact had found the single life so simple. Yet along came Kayla, and all those ideas about being single, about being happy alone, they all went out the window, his head filled with thoughts of her, and he was sure that if he wasn't sitting with her now, he would be sitting somewhere else trying not to think about her too much, and finding ways to pass the time till they were together again.
It wasn't like Albert wasn't good at reading people normally though, through his own life experiences he understood others very well and so this clueless nature that was overtaking him once more was all the more baffling for him. Some might say he was egocentric in a way, that because he wanted nothing more then to spend time with Kayla that he would be unable to understand her not feeling the same about him, and it was for that very reason he made extra efforts to try and not overwhelm her, and that he had offered her an easy way to get some time away from him if that is what she wanted. However she had chosen to stay awhile longer, and so with a soft smile Albert listened to what she had to say next.

"When I have a day off seeing as they are few inbetween thease days I like to take full advantage of them. I normally spend them doing as little as possable, but being out like this is also nice as well." Kayla stated before polishing off the remainder of her soda that she had ordered with her meal. While most others enjoyed coffee or something with acohol in it, Kayla perfered sugar instead. Growing up she never developed a taste for coffee so had never had any. In fact, she was quite content with the large suply of coke she kept on hand at home.
She smiled leaning back into a more relaxed state in her wheelchair knowing that it appeared tht Albert also had no where else to go at the moment. She apparently had been thinking the same thing and not even known it. As she took a moment to reflect on the events of the past day, she relized that she'd done that a lot, more thn normal for her. She could always read people in a way to a degree espically when determining who was a threat or not, but with Albert she reached a whole new level or so it had seemed. Not only was he not a threat to her, but she had been right when she picked up that he was attracted to her.
WHen this had hit her, she at first didn't know how to deal with it. She had been raised feeling and grown-up knowing she would end up alone. That no one would see past her and respect her as a person. That's why she reguarded everyone in two groups, people you ran into and co-workers that you would get along with keeping everything professional. Now other thoughts invated her mind, and being alone was no longer acceptable. She found herself wanting more than ever to have things work out between her and Albert.
