The testimony of Frank Logan, Survivor
[Start of Recording]
Sgt. Tacker: So, tell me about what you think happened.
Logan: Well, it wasn't just the flu, that's for damn sure!
[Both Laughing]
Logan: How trite that sounds, right? Well, that's what everyone thought, back in March. March 2008. Seems like centuries ago. Well, started up in China, I think. I don't watch the news too much. Started in China and Africa, then spread to Europe around August. A flu virus, they told us. People weren't doing too well, and there were a few deaths, but nothing seemed wrong.
I didn't want to let my kids go to school. Lots of the other kids were just getting back from summer vacation and that was when the quarantine hadn't been set up. Laura came home feeling sick. Jesus, I think I nearly had a heart attack, but it was just a cold, thank God... We didn't have the money to pay for any treatment. That was before we figured out it wasn't just the flu, though.
Then, in December about, after Hannah's seventh birthday- Mh, that's about when they found out. Started in Bernard's Hospital, they all say.
Sgt. Tacker: Who's they?
Logan: The rumor mill. They brought this sick b****** in and he bit the doctor and then just died. His history said he had gotten the flu and then somehow recovered.
Sgt. Tacker: Hah, they don't do that anymore do they?
Logan: They sure don't. They just get it and die. Well, as dead as the f***ers can get. S'cuse my French.
Sgt. Tacker: No problem. Were you in Rabble City during New Years?
[short pause]
Logan: [Sounding a little choked up] I was. With my wife, Elizabeth. We'd left our daughters with a babysitter and went to a party that Liz's friend was having-
Sgt. Tacker: Take your time.
Logan: The f***ers started out on the street. The first outbreak. They began rampaging all over, killing everybody. Lost track of my wife-
[Short Pause]
Logan: [Quiet Sob] Had to get back to the house, and they were all over there too. I couldn't find my kids- F***...
Sgt. Tacker: But you managed to get out of the city and get here.
[Long Pause]
Logan: F***ing hell, yes. Yeah, I'm here but my girls aren't. I couldn't do a f***ing thing. They swarmed. All over.
[Long Pause]
Sgt. Tacker: [Quietly] Alright, thank you, Mr. Logan. You'll have to get yourself checked out in medical. Nurse Escher here will take you.
Logan: Thanks...
