The City That Never Sleeps
Because the world has never been black and white...and sometimes the rules only get in the way.
Broken people can't always be fixed...and sometimes they don't want to be. Appearances can be deceiving. Anyone can kill. Everyone has secrets. And sometimes, the unlikeliest can become a hero.
This is what it means to live in Las Vegas, where your neighbor is as likely to be a Mob boss as a soccer mom - and it's a toss-up as to which will kill you faster. Here, the cops are crooked, the gang bangers are a vigilante force, the priests are steeped in sin and the strippers are more dangerous than the bouncers. In a place where nothing is free but everything is for sale, truth is a rare commodity. Sanity is never a requirement, and idealism -well, see for yourself. Within these city limits, the lines are thin enough to be stepped over, if not blurred entirely.
None know this better than the Night Shift of District 5, a loose branch of the California Bureau of Investigations, better known as the 'Dogs of the CBI'. The Dogs are the troubled agents, the CBI's rejects and leavings. Most of them have had trouble with the law or have otherwise 'embarrassed' the CBI.
The ranks of the Dogs are filled with addicts, prostitutes, alcoholics, and the just plain psycho. They follow their own rules, stepping outside the law to solve a case as often as not, and with a street rep, good and bad, that rivals that of most gangs. They are also the last, best hope to the dregs of the Vegas society, those normal agents dismiss out of hand. A Dog takes any case, no matter how ugly, because they know one thing:
We're all only human.
