Angel had finally found time to seek out Dr.Chase, looking for her consult over her patient who needed heart surgery. Walking down the hallway where the surgery rooms were located, she looked to find Dr.Chase's office. She'd heard good things about him, mainly from Cuddy, and she was anxious to meet another doctor within the hospital. Not completely sure what he looked like, she prayed he was in his office, that way there wouldn't be much doubt about who he was. Knocking on the door, she hoped he was there.

Today had been one of the rare days that Chase had, a day where he was basically confined to his office to finish up some paperwork that the hospital needed in before the weekend. He didn't have any surgeries planned until later in the day, right before he clocked out and went home. Not that filling out paperwork was much of a consolation prize, but he really didn't feel like doing any surgeries today. So solitary confinement it was.
He sat at his maple wood desk, filling out forms about he recent surgeries and what happened, the usual stuff. It was actually pretty boring, sine it was office paperwork. Normally, he assigned one of his doctors to finish it for him, but Cuddy determined that he needed to do some of the work, not just the "fun" part of the job. Such was the job of the department head, his brand new position. He couldn't say that he was surprised, he knew hat he would have gotten the position sooner or later, but it came much sooner than he expected. He guessed his experience working with House must have finally paid off, all those years working under that sarcastic, drug-popping dictator. But Chase still like House, as a person anyways. A a boss, maybe not.
He glanced up, hearing a sharp knock on his door. He wondered who could be visiting him now, since no one had really called for him at all during the day. He brushed a strand of hair from his face, setting his pen down on the paper and leaning back in his leather chair.
"Come in!" He called, his Australian accent layered in his words.

Hearing the words come in, Angel turned the nob and walked into the office. Looking around, she noticed various bookshelves and the like, common decorations for an office. "Dr.Chase I presume?" She inquired, walking towards the desk. In her hand she held a patient's file, the one she needed a consult on.
"Dr. Angel Fraser, head of cardiology." She introduced herself, giving the doctor in front of her a good look over. Not quite the type of guy she'd go for, but attractive none the less. "I'm looking to schedule open heart surgery for one of my patients." She stated, standing at the front of his desk. "Australian right?" She stated, thinking about his accent.

Chase could only wonder why Dr.Fraser was in his office. He didn't remember having any heart surgeries planned later, but that was the thing about this job. Something always came up. He placed his hands on the desk and looked up at her.
"Well, I don't see why that should be a problem." He said. "Unless you want me to do the surgery?" He asked, pointing at himself. Normally, doctors didn't come in and request surgery, Cuddy always sent him his assignment. So it made him wonder why she was here. It was very peculiar. "Uhh,yeah. Australia, born and raised." He said as she commented on his accent. It was something that no one ever missed and always asked him about it. Which got quite tiring after a while

"Oh good, I'm hoping to get him recuperating in time to be home for his granddaughter's birthday." She smiled, glad that he'd be able to schedule something. "Cuddy said you were the best, and she let me know where your office was." She said, putting the file down on his desk. "Am I not supposed to talk to the head of surgery about scheduling surgeries?" She was new, so she wasn't terribly worried that she had made a mistake.
"I'm sure you get that question all the time." She chuckled. "Must have been interesting moving here, somewhere different." She said. She'd lived in New Jersey all her life, but had always wished to travel.

"Yeah, depending on how serious the surgery is, he'll be up and running around." Chase said, a small small flooding his face. "Well, not exactly running but you see my point."
He picked up the file she had just placed on his desk, reading the information inside. And older male, probably in his late stage of life, needing open hear surgery. He tried to think back to his last open hear surgery, which was abotu a month ago. The patient had almost died, not thorugh any fault of Chase's, but it was just a natural danger when you cut someone open to look at their heart. It was always apossibility and a caution for surgeons. It was not something he was necessarily looking forward to, but it would definatly keep him on his toes.
"Well,no its not that, it just I usually know about surgeries when my doctors tell me. But don't feel bad, I'm new to this whole department head thing too, Dr.Fraser. Or do you mind if I just call you Angel." He said, placing the file back on his desk and looking back at her.
"The best? Hmm, I don't know if I would say that," Chase said with a chuckle, "But I am quite good if I do say so myself."
"Well, yeah, people always wonder. But its kind of like me asking you if you're an American. But I don't mind. And the move was quite a different from. You American blokes are quite diferent. But you get used to it over time."

Angel let out a small laugh after his comment about not necessarily running around. "Yes I do get the idea." She smiled. She was really glad that she'd be able to grant the man his wish, provided everything went well on the table. She'd made it perfectly clear all the risks involved.
"Oh good, this whole department head thing is still so new." She sighed, shaking her head. "I'm glad I'm not the only one adjusting." When he asked if he could call her Angel, she smiled again. "I prefer Angel. Is there a shorter name I can call you rather than Dr.Chase? That is if you don't mind." She inquired politely.
"I wouldn't know about Americans being different. I've lived here all my life, although I've been meaning to travel, whenever I can actually find the time."

"Yeah, I just got the position a couple weeks ago. I used to work for House before... well let's just say there was an incident." Chase said, rolling his eyes as he thought about his. His sudden termination from the Diagnostics Team because House was so busy trying to keep Foreman at the hospital. And then he spend a couple weeks unemployed, searching at other hospitals before Cuddy rehired him to be a part of the Surgery Team. And then promoting him to head of surgery. It was kind of like losing a penny and finding a dollar. Way more than was Chase had expected.
"Well, Angel is a very beautiful name." Chase said. He had never really liked the whole Doctor prefix, it seemed to formal for him. That's why mostly everyone just called him Chase, it was so much more informal and relaxed than Dr.Robert Chase. That made him sound older than the the twenty-nine years he had aged. "And no, I don't mind at all. You can call me Chase if you want to, mostly everyone does."
Chase wasn't surprised to hear that she had stayed in the States for all of her life. He knew he had been a lucky one. He had attended Seminary for a while before deciding it wasn't for him, then went to medical school, which trained him with the Royal Flying Doctor Service back in Australia. And then he did just a little bit of medical school follow-up in England before moving over to the States, where he got hired to part of House's team. "Yeah, I've done alot of work over in Australia and Britain, but I've been here for a good number of years, most of them at this very hospital. But you should try and see if you could travel, maybe get a position somewhere overseas. The experience is pretty good."

"Ah yes, the infamous Dr. House." Angel smirked at the mention of his name. Various memories moved through her mind, most of them included sex with that man. Not that she was complaining, it had been amazing. "He did mention you at one point in one of our conversations." She then raised an eyebrow. "I hear incidents are quite common with him."
At his compliment of her name, Angel blushed a bit. "I still say my parents named me wrong. I'm far from being an angel." She laughed, hooking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I think I can live with calling you Chase."
Nodding as he told her she should go abroad, Angel sighed. "I'll get there eventually. Right now, I'm just glad to be out of the same hospital that my mother works at." She stated, although it was an understatement. Working in the same hospital as her mother drove her absolutely nuts. "I'm glad to see you kept your accent though. It's kinda cute."

"Believe me, after working so many years with him, I'm used to his incidents." Chase said with a slight chuckle, reflecting on the many problems that house would cause with his patients. It wasn't a surprise to why he had always sent his team to go do the tests for him while he thought about the case. But, he was a medical genius and Chase respected him for that. He guessed that the old saying was true: "You can't have the good without the bad."
"Well, I think that all of our parents name us wrong. I mean, why Robert for God's sake?" Supposedly, his father, who used to be a prominent doctor in the medical world, had named him after a famous doctor that he had once known. But it was such a plain and common name in the world. That's why he preferred people to call him Chase, a name that wouldn't really be confused with anyone else.
"I'm guessing you don't get along with your mother?" Chase asked, leaning back in his chair he again. He had never really been the type who could sit down for a long time and stay still. Which is probably why he became a doctor rather than finding some nine to five desk job somewhere.

"Hopefully I'll be able to adjust to having him around." Angel nodded. She'd already began to adjust but life just kept throwing her curve balls.
"Robert..." Angel looked thoughtful for a moment. "Means bright fame, if I remember my etymology." She chuckled. "I used to study what names mean for fun. I was such a geek in high school." She sighed, smiling.
"Oh I got along with my mother, when we weren't in the hospital." She stated. "She's the head nurse at Newton Memorial. I worked there until I got the offer here, and I was always under her shadow. Everyone thought I should be more like my mother."

"Well, I think that working with him gets easier as time goes on..." Chase said, trailing off as he thought about the years he had spent as a part of House's team. Although most people couldn't see why he had bothered to stay so long with House, Chase knew it wasn't just for the experience. It was like watching an experiment that went on with House. Although he was usually an ass to everyone, every now and then there would be a case that would prove that, somewhere, he had a heart. Like the case of the autistic boy. That case seemed to be one that hit House the hardest, one that he spent more time thinking on then most of his cases. It wasn't often that cases like that came around but they did prove that House could care, even if it wasn't often. "But by the looks of it, you seemed to have enjoyed meeting him. Most people usually tell me what a mean and sadistic person he can be." Chase responded.
"Bright fame? I guess that's some what....fitting." He said after a moments pause, thinking about what made his parents give him that name. He was sure they probably didn't know what it meant, especially his father who had never really seemed to like him as a child. Even well past childhood, all the way up to his death and beyond, since he had completely cut him out of his will when he died.
"Hmm, can't say that people have ever told me that. I guess that you're mother is like an angel and you aren't at her standards?" Chase asked innocently.

"As hard as it is to believe, I've met worse." Angel chuckled. Her ex Jackson being one of them. "I've managed to keep up with his pace, so to speak." She added, looking at her watch.
"My mother is a saint in the eyes of those who work for her. I was always asked 'Why can't you be more like your mother?'. I'd sit there and think to myself, I'm a bloody cardiology doctor, it's much better than a nurse, why would I want to demote myself to be a nurse." She shrugged. "Don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect for nurses." Sighing, she moved towards the door. "Anyways I've got a patient to see, but thanks for scheduling the surgery. I hope to see you around." She smiled, opening the door.
