Wilson had excused himself after the lecture to go change, and Angel had happily agreed to meet him at the coffee shop. She sat down at a booth, removing her jacket and putting it beside her. As she waited for Wilson as well as her coffee, she sat and fiddled with the strap of her purse. It was only coffee, two coworkers going out to coffee, nothing more... Yet she was nervous. She couldn't figure out why she was so nervous, although going out for coffee instead of a beer was slightly different from her normal routine.

Wilson had made a quick trip back to his apartment to change into black dress pants and a navy blue sweater. He wanted to look nice...but not too nice. This wasn't a date he was going on. He didn't know what to call it.
Throwing his jacket, he made the short drive over to the coffee shop. He ordered his coffee at the counter and then scanned the small crowd. When he saw Angel, he smiled and headed over to the booth. He took off his jacket and slid in across from her.
"Thanks for coming tonight," he said. Wilson had his doubts about women in general. Any man who'd been divorced three times would have his doubts about the fairer sex. "I hope I didn't bore you to death."

The waitress had just brought Angel her coffee when Wilson joined her at the booth. "No problem, I found it rather..." She looked for the right word. "Informative." She chuckled. She'd managed to keep the giggles to a minimum during his lecture. It wasn't that she was immature, she just found it amusing sometimes.
She gave him a shy smile as she looked at him from across the table. "Thanks for joining me for coffee afterward." She added, swirling her spoon in her mug of coffee. She tried to think of an interesting topic of conversation, but couldn't think of anything off the top of her head.

Wilson returned her smile and said, "No problem."
He could think of a conversation starter. Things were gradually spiraling out of control between him, Cuddy, House, and Angel. He had been mulling over various solutions in his head after everything had started getting out of control and thought he had landed on the perfect one.
Wilson rested his arms on the table and leaned forward slightly, as if he were about to reveal some big secret. "I have something I need to tell you." The only way he could say it was to just say it. "House and I are not gay. We never have been and never will be."

When Wilson informed her that him and House weren't actually a gay couple, she couldn't hold back a laugh. "I kind of figured. I knew this one gay guy back in med school... Believe me, I didn't buy it." She chuckled, hoping Wilson wouldn't take it the wrong way.
She was also somewhat relieved that he wasn't. He seemed like a really decent guy, and she had been hoping he didn't bat for the other team. Resting her hand on his arm reassuringly, she felt that same jolt that she had felt earlier that day in the lecture hall. It was rather confusing as she didn't know what it was. She looked him up and down again. "There's something else you want to add isn't there?"

Wilson blamed the non-believability of the plan on House. Wilson had certainly acted as much as he could like he was in love with House but House hadn't had his heart in the plan. Wilson wasn't surprised. It had always been quite obvious to him that House had feelings for Cuddy.
"There is something else," he proceeded cautiously. "I'm leaving." Wilson mentally cursed himself. "No...no, that's not right. I'm thinking about leaving."
Just then the waitress came over with Wilson's coffee. He thanked her and took a small sip before setting the cup back down. He knew that Angel was going to ask why, so he started to come up with a list of sane reasons in his head.

Angel nearly choked on her coffee when he said he was thinking of leaving. Coughing a bit to clear her throat, she put her coffee down. "Leaving?" She stammered, not completely sure what to make of his statement. He couldn't leave... the hospital wouldn't be safe from House if he left.
She wasn't sure how she really felt about that. They'd only just started talking to each other, but she felt a connection there. She didn't want him to leave, she'd miss seeing him around the hospital. Not completely sure what else to say,she asked the one question that was left to ask. "Why?"

Wilson leaned back in the booth, all of those sane reasons he was listing disappearing from his mind. "Because of House," he simply said. He knew he'd have to eleborate, but where to begin? "Because I'm not sure I'm even really his friend. Because I care about him more than I should. Because I can't stand being around him..." Wilson let his words trail off. There wasn't much more he could say.

"I was always taught to face your problems head on, otherwise they come back to bite you in the butt." Angel said, reaching out to take his hand. "If you need some time away, I'm sure Cuddy will understand. If you need some place to crash, my door's always open." She said softly, looking at him with caring eyes. She wasn't sure why she had just opened her house to him, but it felt like the right thing to do. "If you ever need someone to vent, rant, bitch or just talk to, I'm always available."
She didn't want him to leave permanently. She liked him... It suddenly dawned on her what that feeling was. It was a crush. She had a crush on Dr. Wilson, head of oncology.

"I think that the best solution to problems that you know you can't fix is to run away." That was the old Wilson talking---the old Wilson that Amber would have eventually gotten rid in time. He smiled at her offer of an open door. He didn't think he'd take her up on that offer any time soon, though.
"I need more than some time away. I've been doing some job hunting on the side. Haven't found anything yet but when I do I'm going to weigh the costs and benefits of staying or leaving." Which pretty much meant that as soon as he found a solid job offering he was going to get out of here.

Stubborn male, Angel thought to herself as she listened to him talk about running away from the problem. "Every problem can be fixed, solved, resolved, which ever. You just have to plant your feet in the ground and say "Let's do this"." She wasn't sure where this was coming from, but she really did want to help.
"Princeton-Plainsboro needs you." Angel sighed, not completely sure how else to reply to his mention of looking for another job. I need you, she added in her mind. She wasn't sure why, but just having him around brought a certain balance to her life. Sure she was a partying type of gal, but he brought calm to her life.

He shook his head. "This problem can't be fix, solved, or resolved." House was the problem. As much as Wilson wanted to believe that House could be fixed, deep down inside he knew he couldn't. That was just a sad fact of life.
Now it was Wilson's turn to ask the question. "Why?" There were plenty of oncologists out there as qualified---or more qualified---to hold his current position. Wilson actually saw a benefit in leaving. Maybe House would be forced to fix himself if he didn't have his best friend around to fall back on.

Angel took a deep breath, trying hard not to reach across the table and smack the man. "House, in my personal experience, is loud, obnoxious and down right rude. He is amazingly luck to have a friend who's as caring as you are." She looked down at her coffee and shook her head. "Granted I haven't known him for as long as you have, but still. I've dealt with my fair share of men like him."
"If I said it was because the hospital and it's staff wouldn't be safe from House would you atleast laugh?" She inquired, a hopeful tone in her voice. She knew it wasn't the greatest joke, but still. "House is hopeless. Accept it and move on." She wanted for him to stay, even if it was solely because she liked him. Selfish she knew, but still.

Angel knew House pretty well for someone who said that they didn't know him well. Wilson was in no laughing mood, especially because he knew she was right. Then again, if House and Cuddy made up he wouldn't be needed to keep House in check.
"I am moving on," he replied. He couldn't come up with a better way to move on than to leave Princeton-Plainsbororo for good. "I need a change of scenery."

"So much for jokes..." She sighed to herself, shaking her head. This man was way to stubborn. She didn't know how else to get through to him. Maybe if she got Cuddy to talk to him? No, that would break trust between them, something she didn't want to do.
"No, you're going to take a couple of weeks off." She said firmly. "You are going to take some time off, away from the hospital, somewhere House won't find you. No cell phones, no pagers. You need you time." She added, asserting herself in the situation. If worse came to worse, she'd beg and plead, but she hoped it wouldn't come to that.
