Angel snuck into the lecture hall, book in hand. She'd double checked the schedule to make sure that it wasn't busy or needed. Smiling, she closed the door and headed towards the front of the hall. It was so quiet and she figured it would be the best place to read. No one would come looking for her here, and she'd been dying to finish her book.
Hopping up on the desk in the front, Angel opened her book and began to read. The sight of Angel reading was rather rare, considering she portrayed herself as more of the partying/having fun type. She soon began to lose herself in her book, the world around her dissolving into nothing but the words on the paper and the world it painted.

Wilson was scheduled to give a lecture tonight on the latest breakthroughs in colon cancer screening. He had given plenty of speeches before in his career and knew that practice did really make perfect. Holding a file full of notes, Wilson opened up the back door to the lecture room.
Before he could even take a step forward, he saw Angel sitting on the desk. House had his clinic rooms when he didn't want to be bothered. And it looked like Angel had the lecture halls. He thought about doing an about face and getting out of there. He hadn't talked to her since the morning after the whole strang, convoluted illusion scheme, and even then they hadn't said much to each other.
He couldn't avoid her forever, though. Wilson slowly made his way down the steps to the front. He stopped in front of the desk and gave her a friendly smile. "Reading anything interesting?" he asked, that being the only conversation starter he could think of.

Angel was lost within her book that she didn't hear Dr.Wilson come in. Roused from her fictional world, she looked up to see Wilson standing there. "Just catching up on some reading that isn't medical journals." She smiled, closing the book and putting it down on the desk.
"What brings you by? I checked the schedules, there wasn't anything scheduled for right now." She inquired, looking him over. They hadn't really spoken since he had called her inquiring about playing that prank on House. She had to admit, thinking about it now, it wasn't the greatest idea ever, even though she had enjoyed it. "Most people never get to see me read." She chuckled, crossing her legs and resting her hands on them. "Don't tell anyone, I have a reputation to maintain." She winked.

"Have to give a lecture tonight," he replied. He set his file down on the desk and perched himself next to Angel. "Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me," he chuckled. Of course he didn't think Angel would believe him when he said that. He told House everything.
"I've been doing a lot of aplogizing these past few days," he said. "And I believe that you're the only person I've neglected to say 'I'm sorry' to yet."

Not being able to help but chuckle, she looked over at Wilson's notes as he joined her on the desk. "A lecture on..." She looked closely at the notes. "Colon cancer screening... Sounds like a good time." She teased. "I trust you, it's certain other doctors I don't trust." She replied in a bemused tone. "Although, it may just give him something else to fantasize over."
"No need for apologizes." Angel said, motioning for him to stop. "My former teacher once told me to never regret anything, and last night will be no different. I will admit I had fun, and I will admit I feel bad for leading House on like that." She sighed, running a hand through her brown hair. "Although after this morning with the elevator, I will also admit that I wanted to dump my coffee on his head." She looked at her shoes for a moment before looking over at Wilson. "I have an odd feeling that I'm not the only person who feels like that a lot of the time."

Wilson smirked. "Everyone who's ever worked with House has felt that way. I know that I have numerous times." Those numerous times being every time he had been in danger of losing his job for standing up for House. "You'll learn to live with his attitude eventually." That wasn't exactly true. For all the years that Wilson had known House, there were still times he wondered why he was still friends with him and what it was that kept him coming back to him over and over again, no matter the trials and tribulations that their friendship was put through.

"Eventually..." She laughed. "That gives me so much hope." It felt good to laugh after the last couple of days. She'd been stressed with starting her new position, meeting the staff... Then the whole night of drunken bliss, well that hadn't helped. "So," She said, not completely sure where to steer the conversation. "What got you into oncology?" She inquired, she was rather curious as to why someone would pick that as their focus. Wilson was different, Angel thought to herself. There was something about him that made her feel comfortable with her softer side. As though she wouldn't be judged if she wanted to just read a book or listen to classical music.

That was a question Wilson got asked a lot. Why go into a field of medicine where most of your patients didn't have a high survival rate? "When I started med school I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to specialize in. I scored an internship with an oncologist and found that I had a natural knack for comforting people who have only months or weeks left to live." As depressing as it is, oncologists have to have that special ability. "What made you decide to go into cardiology?"

Angel nodded, listening to Wilson's explanation. "Being compassionate and caring is always something doctors require." She gave him a reassuring smile. "Contrary to popular belief, I actually like a man with a big heart." She said, then realized how funny it sounded. "Not literally a big heart though.." She shook her head, blushing at the fact that she was suddenly inarticulate. "Cardiology just seemed interesting to me. The idea of being able to hold someone's heart in your hand..." She sighed. "My parents were both in the medical field. My father was a surgeon, my mother was a nurse.... well still is a nurse."

"Then, why House?" Wilson asked, not meaning to pry into her personal life but being curious nonetheless. "That man has a heart the size of a pea...no, not even that large," he joked. Angel could very well ask him that some question back. Wilson didn't think his answer would---or could---be better than answer she gave.

Angel went to say something, then stopped. Come to think of it, she really wasn't sure why she went for House. "House was a physical attraction. I can't really say I was attracted to his personality." She chuckled, shaking her head. In truth that's exactly what it had been. "I seem to be a complex woman." She sighed, looking over at Wilson. "There's what I show to the public and what people who know me get to see."
Hooking her hair behind her ear, she blushed again, wondering why she was being so open with Wilson. "What about you? Why House?"

Wilson looked at the ground and let out a small sigh. How to answer that question? He looked back over at Angel. "You ask House that question, and he'll say that I feel the need to be needed. You ask me, and I'll say that House needs to feel needed. He's not the most popular guy in the hospital--" That was an understatement. "--he needs someone to care for him. I'm the only person he's willing to open up to."

"Well, either which way, he's very lucky to have a friend like you." Angel smiled. She missed having a friend like that, considering the last person she could completely confide in was her last boyfriend, and that had ended terribly. She rested a friendly hand on his knee. "So tell me, is there room for a cardiology department head at your lecture tonight? We could always go for a drink, and by drink I mean coffee because I refuse to drink alcohol right now, afterward if you'd like. "

Wilson knew that House was lucky to have him as a friend. He wasn't sure if he was lucky to have House as a friend. He had risked his career when he stood up for House when Vogler wanted him dismissed. He had lied to Detective Tritter about signing prescriptions for House's Vicodin addiction....Some friendship they had together.
All those thoughts quickly vanished, though, when he felt Angel put her hand on his knee. He gently laid his hand on top of her's. "You're more than welcome to come if you'd like, Angel" he said with a smile. "And I'd love to go out for coffee afterward."
Wilson knew he was supposed to be "dating" House...Going out for coffee with Angel was nothing but a professional meeting or whatever you wanted to call it.

"Excellent." Angel said cheerfully. Feeling his hand on hers made her heart beat a little faster, as if a small jolt of electricity ran through her. It felt odd, but she didn't mind it. "Although I apologize now, if you hear snickering when you mention buttocks, anus or rectum, it will be me." She joked. "Unless House attends, then I'd bet it would be him."
It would be good to get out of the house, and get to know her fellow doctors. Although there was something about Wilson that was different about him, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was.
