"Uh huh," House nodded at Angel's compliment, and arched a brow when Wilson complimented Cuddy and him. He could understand complimenting Cuddy, chicks liked that sort of thing, but himself? Why would Wilson care? Oh, of course, Wilson would care. They were best friends after all. Quick, say something back! He thought to himself, with some measure of urgency.
"That hoop skirt is big enough for a man to get under there," House said, waggling his eyebrows at Angel. Not exactly a compliment, but... something that he would say. Still, that hoop skirt really left a lot to the imagination. Someone performing cunnilingus could conceivably get away with it under there. That idea was oddly erotic.
"Bring me a scotch!" He called after Cuddy as she left them toward the refreshment table. He turned back to the two, not caring that he was suddenly their broken third wheel. "Say," he said casually, holding back the smirk of the cultural reference, "either of you do the Madison?"

"Typical male mind." Angel chuckled, shaking her head at House's comment. She watched as Cuddy left to go get refreshments, wondering how much time she had to be social before having to go back on stage. "So, are you and Cuddy here... together?" She inquired. She already knew the answer, but she figured she'd ask anyways. She let out a sigh when she noticed one of the band members signaling her. "If you'll excuse me, I'm being paged, again. This is worse than being on call at work." She smiled. She made her way to the stage again and took the mic. "Alright ladies and gents, this would be a special dedication to very dear friends of mine, I'm sure they'll know who I'm talking about." She winked, looking to see if Cuddy and House were close at hand. She whispered to the pianist who began to play a slow melody. "You're in my arms And all the world is calm The music playing on for only two So close together And when I'm with you So close to feeling alive
A life goes by Romantic dreams must die So I bid mine goodbye and never knew So close was waiting, waiting here with you And now forever I know All that I want is to hold you So close
So close to reaching that famous happy ending Almost believing this one's not pretend And now you're beside me and look how far we've come So far, we are, so close
How could I face the faceless days If I should lose you now? We're so close To reaching that famous happy ending Almost believing this one's not pretend Let's go on, on dreaming for we know we are So close So close And still so far"

Leave it to House to say something like that. Wilson watched Angel make her way back up to the stage. "It's nice seeing you happy for once in your life," he said to House before Angel started speaking. Once Angel was done talking, Wilson glanced over at Cuddy and then back at House. "I guess that's my cue to let you two lovebirds have a dance together." He headed back towards the drink tables and poured himself more water.

Cuddy returned just as Angel was finishing her dedication. She looked confused for a moment as Wilson left, but realization dawned as Angel started singing. She shook her head slightly, handing House the requested scotch. She sipped at her lemonade, moving closer to House as the song went on.
"Glad we did this?" she asked, leaning against him, uncaring of the people around them. "Decided to come to the party, I mean," she added, looking up at him. The song seemed to really be meant for them, and she found her thoughts drifting. "Hmm," she hummed, listening to the words. Was a happy ending really possible for them? "Think we can make it this time?" she asked softly as the song ended, sipping again at her lemonade.

House accepted his scotch from Cuddy. He sipped the drink, listening to Angel dedicate her next song to the mystery couple. Which of course, wasn't so much a mystery to the couple in question. He felt Cuddy lean against him, and felt a moment's pride that she felt she could do that; that she could lean against him; that she considered him a rock, strong enough to hold her tight.
He shot Cuddy an arch look, difficult with the mask, "you have to ask? Where else am I going to wear a monkey suit and mask and not look like I'm crazy. Not that I really care about that, but... all kidding aside," he wrapped his arm around her waist, careful not to spill his alcoholic drink on her dress, "I like the girl on my arm. She's real easy on the eyes."
The song ended and he leaned close. He suddenly didn't care about the roomful of people. The squeal of the feedback coming from Angel's microphone made him jump though, and he pulled back, suddenly feeling a flush of guilt. He drank down the last of his scotch, setting it on a nearby table. "Mmm, Cuddy-licious," he murmured, "you're so irresistible. What ever shall I do with you?" Thinking about getting a room, he wondered if they could get away with it.

When the song was over, Angel glanced over at the band. "Ladies and gentlemen, the band will be taking a short break, but we do have a DJ on hand to take any requests. Please, feel free to keep that music playing." She said, giving a small bow before putting the microphone back on it's stand. She made her way quickly to Wilson, taking his hand. Kissing his neck teasingly, she smirked at him. "Come on, I've got some spare time..." She purred, tugging him towards the exit.

How could he say no to her? He couldn't. Wilson set his drink down on the table and willingly let himself be led towards the exit. Call it intuition, he knew it exactly where they were headed to: the clinic rooms. Tonight would definitely be a night to remember.

As House leaned close to her, she knew what was coming, and she was ready to meet him halfway when the high-pitched squeal caught her, and apparently him, off guard. She chuckled a little, but inwardly she was disappointed. "I can think of a few things I'd like you do to with me," she muttered back, smirking lasciviously.
Her attention was drawn away though, when Angel dragged Wilson toward the exit. She didn't have to wonder where they were going. She didn't want to wonder where they were going. Quickly, she finished off her lemonade, setting the empty cup down. Turning to face him, she toyed with the lapels of his dress jacket. She was about to say something when a very familiar string of notes drifted through the air, and her eyes widened slightly.

When the band began playing "What about love," by Heart, House had to exchange glances with Cuddy. He arched an eyebrow and a secretive smile sketched itself across his lips. It was their song. The one they heard and listened to while they made love for the first time. The first time they made love in the back seat of House's '74 Dodge Colt GT that is. "They're playing our song, Cuddy," House said, tenderly holding her in his arms. They danced as he subtly guided her around the dance floor, winding up near the exits. "That takes me back," he murmured into her ear, feeling the faint stirrings of nostalgia. He really wanted to kiss Cuddy, and he glanced around the room, before tugging her with him, towards the doors. He couldn't resist anymore and leaned in closer to her, feeling like he was back in college again. That heady feeling of having exactly what he wanted and doing something with it. His lips met hers and he kissed her. I've been lonely I've been waiting for you I'm pretending and that's all I can do The love I'm sending Ain't making it through to your heart You've been hiding, never letting it show Always trying to keep it under control You got it down and you're well On the way to the top But there's something that you forgot
What about love? Don't you want someone to care about you What about love? Don't let it slip away What about love? I only want to share it with you You might need it someday
I can't tell you what you're feeling inside I can't sell you what you don't want to buy Something's missing and you got to Look back on your life You know something here just ain't right
What about love? Don't you want someone to care about you? What about love? Don't let it slip away What about love? I only want to share it with you What about love? Don't you want someone to care about you? What about love? Don't let it slip away What about love? I only want to share it with you

As the words drifted around them, as he held her in his arms, her head was filled with memories of the first time they'd heard this song...declared it as theirs. Cuddy relaxed into House's embrace as they moved across the floor, looking up only when they stopped.
"Yeah.." she replied breathlessly. She didn't resist when he pulled her out the door, and gave everything she had into the kiss. The faint stirrings of desire danced through her as she pressed herself against him, deepening the kiss. Cuddy moaned into House's mouth, melting in his arms. Breaking away reluctantly, she gazed into his eyes, her own reflecting the raw lust coursing through her. "Let's take this somewhere else, shall we?"

House leered at Cuddy, "yes, somewhere else sounds like an absolutely brilliant idea." He considered where they could go, nearby. In the end, there was really only one place he wanted to have Cuddy. The examination rooms. "And I have just the place in mind," he tugged her, urging her to follow.
"There's no place like... the exam rooms!" House declared with a waggle of his eyebrows, "I know I'd like to do a little examining of my own."

Angel scurried back into the cafeteria once they managed to get out of the exam. She rushed up to the stage, trying to push the events that had just occurred out of her mind. Picking up the mic once the music ended, she cleared her throat. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is now after midnight. We would like to thank you for your attendance, but the party has now ended." She smiled, realizing her mask was no longer on. "I am Dr. Angel Fraser, I have had a wonderful time being your master of ceremonies." She continued. "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here." She chuckled, as the lights slowly turned up. "Good night and drive safe." Bowing, she moved off stage to find Wilson. She was exhausted and wanted to go home.
