Jason smiled back, glad he'd finally reached the right conclusion. Now for treatment....
"The amount of copper in her body would need to be reduced. So I would begin chelation, put her on Penicillamine. Nevermind; with her symptoms that would probably make the patient worse. Trientine hydrochloride would most likely get better results--That would help remove the copper and once all that is under control she should take zinc acetate for life.
"She would need to avoid food with copper in it, like Chocolate, Dried fruit, Liver, Shellfish, Mushrooms, Nuts, as well as tap water. Physical therapy would help with her issues.
He thought for a minute, he was forgetting the tumor in the liver. "Usually a liver transplant would be something to avoid, but, with the tumor I don't know if that would be possible. It would depend on whether that could be removed..."

Cuddy smiled again. House would definitely thank her for this. Oh, how he would thank her. Maybe he would show his gratitude by asking her to the Valentine's party that was coming up in a couple weeks.... Realizing that Nelson was still speaking, she tuned back in, hoping it wasn't obvious that she'd zoned out.
"The tumor was removed prior to the final diagnosis of Wilson's Disease. Liver transplant was successfully avoided." Standing up, Cuddy held out her hand again, this time to shake his hand in congratulations. "You have your internship. I can take you up to the fourth floor to meet Doctor House right now, if you like?"

James felt like collapsing with relief. However; becoming a patient on his first day of work would be highly inappropriate, not to mention embarrassing. So he settled for returning the hand shake.
He had survived the interview. And gotten the internship as well. He hoped it would be the beginning of a long career...but it was best not to get ahead of himself.
"Thank you very much! That sounds great. I look forward to meeting him." he said simply, at a loss for words. For a guy who could talk straight for nearly an hour he was having an uncharacteristically almost wordless morning.
