Angel had managed to make her way to Wilson's office, glad that she could at least stay in the hospital to do some work. It also gave her a chance to talk to Wilson some more, get to know him and thank him for being there for her. She made her way over to the couch and put her bag down.
As she sat down on the couch, she let out a soft groan. Ok, so the distance between her office and Wilson's had taken a little bit of the wind out of her. "Thanks again for offering your couch to me." She smiled, looking at Wilson. "I hope you don't charge by the hour." She chuckled, hoping he'd get the psychiatrist joke.

Wilson was also looking forward to this time alone with Angel. He wanted nothing more than to help her get through this tough time. He just prayed that House wouldn't come knocking. He followed closely behind Angel.
He sat down at his desk, laughing at her joke. "Lucky for you, business has been great lately so I can afford to give away a few free appointments to my friends." Wilson did have a little bit of paperwork to do but that could wait for the moment.

Chuckling at Wilson's response to her joke, she shifted on the couch to get a little more comfortable. "Mm, I'm glad I could nab one of those free appointments." She smiled, looking over at Wilson. She hooked a strand of hair behind her ear and debated about taking out her laptop.
"I really do appreciate you offering to 'babysit' me." She said, removing the laptop from her bag. "I don't think I could handle being at home right now. I just don't want to be alone." She confessed, booting the computer up. Of course she had been alone in her office, but there were people around her in the hospital itself.

"It's no big deal, Angel," he replied. He picked up his pen and started filling out the first piece of paperwork he laid his hands on. "Just for the record," he said, glancing away from his work and up at Angel, "I think you should be at home in bed right now." Wilson could only assume that Angel had come to work today not only because she didn't want to stare at her bedroom walls all day but also because she thought that by keeping herself busy she would just forget about what happened to Jackson.

"I hate doctors." She chuckled, scrolling through her notes. She then reached down into her bag and pulled out a couple of files. "You know, if you really wanted me at home, you're more than welcome to join me." She smirked, wondering how Wilson would take that.
After a couple of minutes of silence, Angel looked up at Wilson. "How did you deal with the death of your girlfriend?" She inquired, almost whispering. Half of her wanted to know how to grieve, half of her didn't want to talk about it to anyone.

"You shouldn't participate in any strenuous sexual activity for a few months," he joked. She had invited him to her home, not to her bed. "This is my first day officially back here so I'd like to stay here if I can...but if you really do feel the need to go home I will accompany you."
He knew that Amber was going to come up sooner or later. It had been almost a year but it still hurt thinking about it. He finished up the form he was working on before setting his pen down and looking at Angel. "If you're looking for a 'guidlines to grieving' I can't give it to you. What I can tell you is what not to do. Don't run away. Don't blame anyone for what happened." Two huge mistakes he had made.

"Well, there go the plans I had for the next couple of weeks." She chuckled, snapping her fingers. She was glad she still had her sense of humour. "I'll be fine. Honest, I can manage to walk for the most part, I can move without pain and I can certainly concentrate on my work if I have to."
Sighing, she put her laptop down on the table beside the couch and leaned on her knees. "Running away always seems like a good idea, but I know I can't. He broke into my office a few days before he kidnapped me... He wanted me back, said he'd change. I told him to get out. I told him that we could be nothing more than friends. I drove him back to drinking." She said, knowing that if she continued talking, she'd end up in tears. "If I blame anyone, I blame myself." She whispered.

Wilson set aside all of his work and got up from his desk to join Angel on the couch. He put a comforting arm around her shoulders. "For the longest time I blamed myself for Amber's death. If only I had been there when House called, I would have been the one to go to the bar and pick him up. Nobody would have gotten on the bus. You wouldn't be human if you didn't want to blame yourself for what happened. The thing is, you couldn't have known any of this was going to happen."

Feeling Wilson's arm around her shoulder made Angel relax. She rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes. "But it is my fault. He was on the path to recovery. He was going to AA meetings, he showed me his chip." She whimpered, trying so hard to not cry. "I know I didn't know he would snap, but I should have figured that out. He was an abusive alcoholic, I should have seen it coming." She added, feeling a tear slip down her face.

"There's no way you could have known that any of this was going to happen, Angel." There wasn't a lot more he could say than that. "You can't predict the consequences of your actions." There was no way Wilson could have known that not being present at Amber's apartment that one fateful night was going to result in Amber's death, just as Angel couldn't have known that pushing Jackson away was going to result in his death.

"I know that. The logical reasoning part of my mind keeps screaming that to me. Yet there's still a part of me that says I should have known." She sighed, more tears streaming down her face. She wiped them away before they could stain his lab coat. "Look at me, my first day back and I'm bawling like a child." She said, a small chuckle escaping her lips. Placing a hand on his cheek, she looked him in the eye. "We've both been through similar things, at least we have each other to help. I couldn't ask for a better friend to help me through this."

"You're handling things a lot better than I did," he said, letting a small smile spread across his face. "I'm about to do something completely inappropriate. I hope you don't mind." With that said, Wilson removed his arm from around her shoulders and placed it on her cheek. He leaned over and planted a tender, loving kiss on her lips. He pulled back, wanting to see Angel's reaction.

"It's not my first time coping with loss, just the first time I've witnessed losing someone." Angel said, watching Wilson. Feeling his hand on her cheek, she felt a shiver of excitement and something else that she couldn't quite figure out. She closed her eyes as his lips touched hers, and she kissed back. She knew it was wrong, considering both of their situations, but it felt right. When he pulled away, she looked down at her hands and blushed. "I didn't mind that at all."

Wilson smiled. "I'm glad to hear that." Of course, he knew that they shouldn't dive into anything anytime soon. Wilson wasn't quite sure what he felt regarding Angel. He was afraid it was nothing more than sympathy that drove him to kiss her. It wouldn't have been the first time that had happened...thinking back to his former patient Grace.
Wilson stood up and sat back down at his desk again. "That was wrong but it felt so right," he said, glancing at her and totally unaware that he was echoing her very thoughts.

Her smile faltered when he moved to behind his desk. She knew they probably shouldn't have done that, as much as it felt good. He was probably doing it out of sympathy, considering they could relate. She thought they had both felt something, but maybe she was wrong.
"My thoughts exactly." She replied, suddenly relieved that maybe she was wrong. She picked up her laptop and stared at the screen, finding she couldn't concentrate. "Maybe it was a good thing House decided to annoy the heck out of me."
